During our trip to Gyeongju and Busan, my friend and I utilized trains, buses, walking, and occasional taxis for transportation.
When in Gyeongju, a visit to Bulguksa Temple is a must.
Conveniently located just a five-minute walk from Hwangnam-dong Street,
you can catch buses (No. 10 and 11) to Bulguksa Temple from the bus stop across from Jungang Market.
These buses run about twice an hour, so timing is crucial.
Although buses 10 and 11 have more stops, taking around 40 minutes, some prefer the faster bus number 711.
Upon arriving at the Bulguksa stop, the information center is immediately visible, making it a recommended first stop for information.
How to get to Seokguram Grotto from Bulguksa Temple?
While the hiking trail to Seokguram Grotto appeared to be under repair, even if accessible, it would take about an hour. Therefore, many opt for the bus. The Bulguksa Temple Information Center can provide the bus departure times, ensuring you plan accordingly. An hour is typically sufficient for a leisurely visit to Bulguksa Temple.

Things to do at Bulguksa Temple
My friend and I participated in a lantern-hanging event at Bulguksa Temple, wishing for our family's health and happiness. This event, where family name tags are placed on lanterns, costs approximately 30,000 won or more.
An employee inside Bulguksa Temple promotes this activity, making it easily accessible.
There's a large café (Naeryuksa) in front of the Bulguksa bus stop, offering comfortable seating and excellent drinks. It's an ideal place to take a break before catching the bus.

Gyeongju Travel Tips
As the buses in Gyeongju have extended service times, it's essential to factor in sufficient travel time into your itinerary.
You can check the bus arrival times at the bus stop or use a map app.
Weather: While the southern region is warmer than Seoul, it can still feel cold. Ensure you prepare a warm jacket and suitable shoes.
Lodging: Reserving a traditional hanok in Hwangnam-dong in advance can cost less than $40 per day.
