#Aileu: Exploring Lagua Seloi Kraik Rice Field

 If you're wondering where to go in Aileu, Timor-Leste, let me share a fantastic suggestion.
 During my visit to Maubisse, I had the pleasure of meeting two young travelers who hailed from Aileu. Curious to explore the area, I asked them for recommendations, and without hesitation, they suggested visiting Lagua Seloi Kraik.

Lagua Seloi Kraik is a vast rice field with a reservoir, 
and I decided to make my way there in the afternoon. Keep in mind that weekends tend to be crowded with visitors, so if possible, visiting on a weekday would offer a more tranquil experience. I was fortunate to visit in June, which is an excellent season to witness the locals engaging in the harvesting process. There's even a tour option available that provides transportation, lunch, and the opportunity to participate in the harvesting alongside the locals. 

However, do note that after the harvesting season, the reservoir may dry up temporarily for regeneration. I personally traveled to Lagua Seloi Kraik on a motorbike, and with the help of Google Maps, finding the direction was quite straightforward. The journey from Dili typically takes between 1.5 to 2 hours. I recommend bringing water and snacks for the trip, as while there is a small restaurant and shops available, they may not always offer beverages or refreshments. You can also purchase items at the nearby Markadu Seloi.

 Upon arrival, I was greeted with a breathtaking view adorned with beautiful lotus flowers, ducks, and birds. I took the opportunity to explore the area, circling the reservoir on my motorbike. This allowed me to meet friendly locals who welcomed me with their warm hearts. Visiting Lagua Seloi Kraik provides a glimpse into the stunning landscapes and rich agricultural heritage of Aileu. Don't miss the chance to experience the tranquility of the rice field and connect with the locals during your visit.
